A Black American – Def Poetry Jam

Posted on

I love being Black. I love being called Black. I love being an American. I love being a Black American, but as a Black man in this country I think it's a shame that every few years we get a change of name. Since those first ships arrived here from Africa that came across the sea there were already Black men in this country who were free. And as for those that came over here on those terrible boats, they were called niggah and slave and told what to do and how to behave. And then master started trippin' and doing his midnight tippin', down to the slave shacks where he forced he and Great-Great Grandma to be together, and if Great-Great Grandpa protested, he got tarred and feathered. And at the same time, the Black men in the country who were free, were mating with the tribes like the Apache and the Cherokee. And as a result of all that, we're a parade of every shade. And as in this late day and age, you can be sure, they ain't too many of us in this country whose bloodline is pure. But, according to a geological, geographical, genealogy study published in Time Magazine, the Black African people were the first on the scene, so for what it's worth, the Black African people were the first on earth and through migration, our characteristics started to change, and rearrange, to adapt to whatever climate we migrated to. And that's how I became me, and you became you. So, if we gonna go back, let's go all the way back, and if Adam was Black and Eve was Black, then that kind of ...

  2. Gosh I Love My People. We Are Some Truly Amazing Individuals. I Thank GOD For All Of My Amazing Brothers & Sisters That Came Before Me. Who Fought For OUR Rights & OUR Freedoms. How Do We Repay Them Is The Question. I Plan To Do That By Getting A GREAT Education, & Giving Back To OUR People In Africa & More. I’m ALL About The Empowerment Of MY People, & Nothing More Or Nothing Less. Before We Came To This Country, We Were Kings & Queens NEVER Porch Monkeys. Stand UP My Black People. ;D

  3. fucking niggers ! fucking apes! I hate those dirty slaves !

  4. @BeaSiegal You are so right, all of these dumb asses complain about blacks but yet take the time to go to black websites, those people are a joke.

  5. @BLACKNBIG1
I don’t fall for the baiting anymore. These fools what to play the victim so they can bitch when they could just as easily go to WN channels and tell them to knock it off. Blacks didn’t create the concept of “race” but now that we are comfortable about being black and not kissing ass all of the sudden we have a “problem”. LOL.

  6. Race has no color…are we not all a part of the..
human race.. luv Smokey and this poem….it’s the truth…

  7. you have a right to your opinion. but if you hate FACT, -_______- find jesus.

  8. @chess747 We could careless about being accepted by other races of people as long as the black race accept each other, blacks are already over it now you get over it.

  9. @BLACKNBIG1 Spoken like a true racist best of luck trying to be accepted…boohoo 100 years ago we were persecuted so now you expect CHANGE..anyone who says life is fair is a fool….and thus I rest my case you bring this shit to yourself so stop blaming other people because it will not change a dam thing…its people not colour its religion not colour its the greed of man and countries not colour…so get the fuck over it…do I have to be black to feel racism Ive bullied its not racism.

  10. @chess747 This is not about race any way you dam fool this is about black Americans and as far as we are concerned all of you can kiss our black asses and stay the hell off of black American websites if you don’t like it,like I said before no one invited you on this site asshole.

  11. @chess747 We didn’t invite your sorry ass on here and we don’t want none of you assholes on here so you can go suck a dick you fagot.

  12. @BLACKNBIG1 Spoken like a true racist as always boo hoo everyone should feel sorry for you no wonder people dislike you but I am sure there would be %1 of you who would agree with me.Good luck with that.

  13. @BLACKNBIG1 amen tell them again lol

  14. @chess747 Bull Shit, I can already see that you don’t know what you are talking about,if you look at black websites you can read the negative comments that stupid white people type on them.Who cares what white people see or think about blacks? This is not a white site, this site is for blacks (African Americans).Stop trying to symplethize with white people because you sound like an crazy. We attract no one,we don’t invite no other race of people to our sites and we really don’t want them there.

  15. @BLACKNBIG1 Sorry dude but your wrong the truth is that blacks are the racist ones theses days …and I am saying at least %93 of them and thats the truth you get respect if you stop seeing everything as race and only as people you cant say well they are so we should be too just look at every video with a black american its race this race that you are the ones attracting this energy of race to your own people and other races thats how we whites see it truth is its up to all of us as a person.

  16. @chess747 Blacks will start seeing other races as people as soon as other races of people start seeing blacks as people.

  17. Not a fan. I agree that “Black” is better than “African American”, but for different reasons. He admits to never having been to Africa, but assumes that people in Africa don’t claim Black Americans as brothers and sisters. I’ve been to Africa three times, to three different countries and in two different regions and I’ve always been accepted as a long lost sister. Sure, our ancestors have been in America long enough for us to deserve respect as Americans. But we should never forget our homeland!

  18. black black black these people are more racist than any other nation…if you dont show your strenth than dont blam people for your circumstance anonymous..

nice poetry but stop seeing colour and start seeing people.

  19. Thanks Smokey,
YOU SPOKE WITH A LOT OF WISDOM THERE. You are what God made you and he doesn’t make mistakes. I wish everyone had a chance to see this. Black , white you name then. Great job Smokey. For the record I’m white and the last time I looked at a box of crayon there was a white one. We are all colored people. God looks at our hearts not our skin color. If we all looked the same, did the same, eat the same and so on. Wouldn’t this world be boring.

  20. @Coletta100 fucking bitch i see you cock sucking on here .. get lost

  21. Here’s some material for a black poet:
Anti-immigrant or intelligent? Before you post, check out this YouTube video about poverty/immigration entitled:

Immigration by the Numbers — Off the Charts

it’s short and easy to understand. Then let me know what you think.

  22. great piece by Smokey… and its all true

and there’s no cynicism in that poem… in fact… cynicism is the death of success

  23. Peace love & happiness! Love being black!!!

  24. @Acodin144 you seem to be one of those niggers that just wanna spread hate.

  25. I hope I have at least one drop of black! Great Smokey! Love you!
